Our beautiful vineyards and waterfalls take on new personalities when the temperature drops! Frozen and snow covered, there’s a sense of having the entire region to ourselves. Outdoor enthusiasts whatever the season, Ron and I embrace the cold weather that surrounds these winter months. Snowshoeing on Magnolia’s property has become a quick favorite, as well as exploring the trails of the Finger Lakes National Forest. (www.fingerlakes.org) Located on a ridge between Seneca and Cayuga Lakes, the forest covers more than 16,000 acres and is a mere five minute drive from the Inn. Over 30 miles of interconnecting trails are in full use during the cold weather season, with snowmobiling and cross- country skiing conditions at their finest (One of Lexi’s favorite places to visit…a little slice of Labrador Heaven!).
If a guided tour is more up your alley, Sayre Fulkerson, the 6th generation on the farm, is offering Guided Ski/Snow Shoe tours at Fulkerson’s Winery. (www.fulkersonwinery.com). The 2-3 mile tour ends in the Winery with a glass of Spiced Wine and a cup of their famous Chocolate Chili. What a perfect way to spend a snowy afternoon!
The Seneca Lake Wine Trail (www.senecalakewine.com) has also pulled together some wonderful events, introducing us to some new wines we’ve been wanting to try.
To tame a sweet tooth, the Chocolate and Wine Pairings at Miles Wine Cellars have always been a favorite. (www.mileswinecellars.com) And for the cookie lovers, Bagley’s Poplar Ridge (www.bagleysprv.com) pairs a variety of delicious macaron
selections such as:

*Cookies and Cream w/Queen of Diamonds
We are super excited to attend a brand new, exclusive wine and food event that will be occurring early March along our wine trail as well. The “Flights and Bites”
will take us to 5 wineries for seated, immersive food and wine pairings. Choosing 5 wineries, we will be given 60 minutes to taste three distinct, tapas-style dishes at each, served with thoughtfully paired wine. A knowledgeable, experienced staffer will be leading the interactive experience, cultivating the cozy nature of this event.

As we look forward to all of these sweet events in our community, Magnolia Place is preparing its own “Suite Event” later on this year. As many of our guests
already know, Ron and I have been renovating our own living area in anticipation of offering it as our 9th rentable room. Consequently, we’ve been doing quite a bit of planning and decorating, including visiting the Ontario Mall Antiques store north of us. (www.ontariomallantiques.com) The largest antique mall in New York State, with over 30,000 square feet to explore, we’ve had no problem finding new treasures to fill “The Harvest Suite”.
